Booking Multiple Cabins Together for a Family Reunion at Copake

A family reunion at Copake Camping Resort starts with one question: how many cabins does your group need, and which ones? We rent four cabin styles in Copake, New York, from the Rustic Cabin that sleeps five to the Premier and Premier Loft cabins that sleep nine. That range makes Copake a practical choice for cabins for a family reunion in the Hudson Valley. You can match each household to the right cabin and add RV sites for relatives who travel with a rig. We're open May through October.

The Premier is the cabin for a big household. It has a queen master bedroom, a second bedroom with bunks, a futon sleeper in the living area, and French doors to a deck. The Loft version swaps one set of bunks for a loft that sleeps two. Guests bring their own linens in every cabin, and their own cooking items everywhere except the Premier styles. Browse the cabin rentals page and the galleries for the  Premier Loft, Deluxe and Rustic cabins.

Dogs are welcome. They stay on a leash of six feet or less, and they aren't allowed in public buildings or the swim areas. Our dog park is fenced and off leash. We ask for a current rabies vaccination certificate at check-in. See the Pet Lovers Page.

Matching Your Group Size to the Right Cabins

Count beds first, then households. A cabin can't hold more registered guests than it sleeps. Here are three combinations for a two-night weekend, using the posted weekend rates.

These are cabin rates only, so ask the office for your final total with any tax. The table shows something the rate page doesn't. The Rustic and Premier cabins cost the least per bed, about $27 per person per night. The Deluxe and Duplex cost about $46, because you're paying for the private bath and kitchenette. If budget matters, put big households in Premiers and couples in Rustics.

Best Time for Fall RV Camping at Copake

Duplex Studio Cabin for Family Reunions

It's the one cabin our listing calls ideal for family reunions. It's one large room with a private bath on each side of a shared wall, heated and air conditioned, with a queen bed and a table for four. Two households stay side by side, each with its own bathroom.

There are trade-offs. Each side is a single open room, the shared wall carries some sound, and cooking is limited to the microwave and grill. A household that wants a full kitchen belongs in a Premier. If you want both sides for your group, say so when you call. See the Duplex Studio gallery and the floor plan.

RV Sites for Relatives Who Bring a Rig

Copake has 229 full-hookup RV sites with water, 50-amp electric, sewer and cable, in back-in, pull-thru and deluxe patio styles. Nightly rates are $89 weekdays and $104 weekends for a Full Pull Thru site. Each site holds one unit and up to six registered campers, so a household of eight needs a second site or a cabin. Tell us who's arriving by RV when you call.

Multi-Cabin Rates, Minimum Stays and Payment

Our Rates page lists daily, weekly and vacation rates. The weekend, holiday and special event rate runs $15 above the weekday rate for every cabin. Rates can change without notice.

  • Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends have a three-night minimum. October weekends have a two-night minimum. A Premier and a Rustic for three holiday nights come to $1,134.
  • The reservation is paid in full at booking.
  • Each cabin carries a $200 security deposit, charged by credit card at check-in. It's refunded within 24 hours of check-out, less any cleaning or damage charges.
  • Holiday and special event reservations are non-refundable and can't be changed or rain-checked.

Cancellation and Change Fees Per Cabin

The fees apply per cabin, so a group booking multiplies them.

  • 30 or more days out: full refund, less a $25 fee per cabin.
  • 29 to 15 days out: a rain check, less a $25 fee per cabin.
  • 14 days or fewer: no refund, no rain check, no changes.
  • Any change costs $10 per cabin.

On three cabins, cancelling early costs $75 and moving the dates costs $30. Rain checks last 12 months and can't be transferred. Full terms are on the cancellation policy page. Decide before anyone pays whether one organizer books everything or each household books its own cabin.

  • Quiet time ends at 8 AM, and music goes off during quiet hours.
  • There's no lifeguard. Children under 16 need an adult at the pool.

Common Questions

Can we ask for cabins close to each other?

Yes, you can ask. Which cabins sit near each other depends on what's open for your reunion dates, so request placement on the same call where you check availability. Do it before you pay in full at booking. Tell us how many households are coming and which cabin styles you want.

How far in advance should we book cabins for a family reunion?

Book as soon as your family agrees on dates. A reunion needs several cabins open on the same nights, and Copake Camping Resort takes payment in full at booking, so settle who is paying first. Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends carry a three-night minimum and are non-refundable, so confirm attendance before booking those.

Does Copake offer a group discount for booking several cabins?

Our Rates page posts a per-cabin nightly rate for each style and doesn't list a group discount. For pricing on several cabins, call (518) 329-2811 with your dates and the number of cabins you need.

Can we set up a canopy or a reunion banner at our cabin?

Copake's rules don't allow erectable EZ-Up shades, carports or soft-sided storage. Signs, commercial banners and flags are limited to ones showing a name or space number, so ask the office before hanging a reunion banner. Playground equipment isn't permitted on sites either. For a group meal in the shade, ask the office how the pavilion is used.

What happens if it rains or a family has to leave early?

Copake Camping Resort doesn't refund for weather discomfort or early departure, whether voluntary or not. Holiday and special event bookings can't be rain-checked. For a wet day, the arcade is on site, and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge and Olana near Hudson are both on our local attractions page.

Can a family member use a mobility scooter at Copake?

Yes, with advance registration. The rules allow a single-passenger mobility device for a person with a disability if it's insured, registered with management in advance, displays a permit, and is driven only by that person at the 5 MPH limit. Charging happens at your site only, with a $5 daily fee paid in advance. Our cabin pages don't list steps or path access, so ask the office about your specific cabin.

Can we leave our dog in the cabin while the group goes on a day trip?

Plan for someone to stay with the dog. Copake's rules say pets aren't to be left unattended, and dogs aren't allowed in public buildings or the swim areas. Before a day out to Bash Bish Falls or Catamount, assign a dog sitter in the group or ask the office how the rule applies to cabins. The fenced dog park is off-leash.

Where can we buy firewood, propane and snacks during the stay?

The camp store sells firewood and refills propane, and the resort also has a general store and a snack bar. Firewood can't be brought from home, and propane tanks over 40 pounds aren't allowed. The Rustic, Deluxe and Duplex Studio cabins cook on outdoor charcoal grills.
